Mayor Phelps called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m.
1.00 STAFF PRESENTATIONS
North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH)
City employees Arlene Cameron, Tyler Johns and Derek Henderson gave Council a presentation on upcoming events that City staff are putting together to recognize safety at work, at play and at home. NAOSH week takes place May 2 – 8, 2010. There are many activities planned during that week finishing off with a staff BBQ on May 7. Council members are encouraged to join in on some fun and food on May 7.
Staff Updates:
Randy Wiwchar provided an update regarding the following:
Ø Native Sons Hall
Ø City employee Anne Guillo’s excellent computer graphic skills in putting together maps and brochures
Ø Lewis Centre feasibility study
Ø LINC reopening
Ø Seniors Games
Ø Cooperating with Town of Comox recreation
Ø Graffiti
Operational Services
Kevin Lagan provided an update regarding 2010 Capital and Operational Projects.
Planning Services
Peter Crawford provided an update regarding current development applications and building permit values for the first quarter compared to 2009.
2.00 RESOLUTIONS OF COUNCIL
Moved by Presley and seconded by Theos that under the provisions of Section 90(1)(k) of the Community Charter, notice is hereby given that a Special In-Camera meeting closed to the public, will be held April 26, 2010 at the conclusion of the Committee of the Whole meeting.
